The Cure For Fear
Let's face it. Our world is a scary place. We have the Covid-19 pandemic, riots in our streets, a tanking economy, strange animals like Murder Hornets, Flying Snakes, Meth Alligators, and sharks that have legs taking over nature, and now sand storms crossing the Atlantic from the Sahara Desert. The question on everyone's mind and afraid to ask is, "What next?" It seems like everywhere you look, there is bad news for the human race. I can see why some people are choosing live in fear - staying inside their homes, pulling the blinds shut, and burying their heads in the sand. It's easy to give in and live in fear in 2020.
But for those who want to live free of worry and fear there is an answer. His name is Jesus.
Because I have a personal relationship with Jesus, I know I can trust in God's word. Within the pages of the Bible there are 365 passages that are meant to encourage us in times of fear. One for everyday of the year. I find that amazing! I can choose a favorite "Fear Not..." or "Do Not Be Afraid..." passage to use everyday or choose one for today, and then one for tomorrow, and the day after that. Here are some examples:
"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea." - Psalm 46:1-2
"Do not be afraid for I am with you. Do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my mighty right hand." - Isaiah 41:10
Isaiah 41:10 is my personal favorite. I cling to it when I am afraid and hold God accountable to it. I remind Him that He has promised to be with and uphold me - when our family finances are tight, when I lose someone I love, when I'm facing medical procedures, and I know that He is with me in this time with all it's craziness! Believers have no reason to be afraid of anything that I mentioned above because OUR HOPE is not in this world. We know that if we are destroyed and put to death in this world that we will be gloriously resurrected in the life to come.
So, share your faith now! When people tell you how afraid they are, remind them of the promises of God found throughout His word. Quote Isaiah 41:10 and remind them that God will be with them in times of trouble. Share your hope. It is the cure for fear.
